Hobson Hands is an initiative that aims to promote education amongst people everywhere, especially in Calhoun County. HHF is dedicated to preserving black history and supporting the Black community. We are seeking to uplift and mobilize locals through educational programs, historical projects, and community outreach initiatives that will in turn improve social well being for those that interact with the organization and their community for generations to come.

The founder of HHF was selected for John Robert Lewis's (Troy, Alabama) Gandhi King Scholarly Initiative while at Shelton State Community College. This is an exchange program through The University of Alabama in which 10 students were competitively chosen to go to India for a two week residency. In India the same thing, 10 students were chosen to come to America. It was a beautiful exchange that explored the philosophy of both Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi.
The idea of Hobson Hands was born throughout this exchange and has evolved throughout her experiences at Columbia University.
